An individual of a very interesting and rare species, the White-winged Tern  (Chlidonias leucopterus), delighted us with their characteristic and peculiar flight style over Gautegiz Arteaga marshes while it was catching little winged invertebrates  typical of this interesting habitat.

This species breed in lakes, lagoons, marshes and diferent kind of wetlands, distributed mainly by the Southeast of Europe and Central Asia.

This Tern winters in Africa and although there are few sightings during the migrations across the Iberian peninsula, its main flyways go by more oriental areas than ours, and for that is very grateful the observation of so beautiful especies in Urdaibai.
