Early in the morning on the 10th of September 2012, we were able to enjoy with the presence of a young individual of a not very common species due to its evasive behaviour and because it is an unusual sighting in our territory.

We are referring to the Baillon´s crake (Porzana pusilla) which is common in the inside area of Europe, although some populations from west European as well as from southwest of the Iberian peninsula are known.

Since the first sight, this attractive species has awaken the interest of many birdwatchers  that have visited the hide of Orueta who could enjoy with  this rare bird during the short periods that we were able to see it within the dense marsh vegetation.
