More than just accommodation - an unforgettable experience in nature!Located in the heart of the Biosphere Reserve, Urdaibai Bird Center is a unique place to stay. From the Center´s observatory, our guests can enjoy incredible views of the marsh and surrounding countryside The Bird Center is a peaceful place to disconnect from city life and technology. The rooms are modern and minimalist in design but there is no television. Instead, guests can relax in the garden or take a walk down the leafy paths to the observatories on the banks of the lagoon. Surrounded by reeds, these small, camouflaged structures offer guests the chance to observe the wildlife up close. They are also a great viewpoint from which to enjoy an amazing natural phenomenon, the migration of birds. In the area surrounding the Center, there are quiet country walks. The fields are dotted with Basque farmhouses set against the backdrop of the mountains. Visitors can explore the lush forests and the marshes, which are home to a wealth of biodiversity. Just a short distance away are spectacular sandy beaches. Urdaibai is undoubtedly a perfect place for ecotourism. No visit to Urdaibai is complete without a trip to remarkable places such as Gernika or San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Natural wonders like the prehistoric Santimamiñe Cave or the famous Mundaka wave are also a must. The Urdaibai Bird Center is a research center and bird observatory. It houses a museum which is dedicated to the world of birds and their migratory journeys. Managed by the Aranzadi Society of Sciences, a non profit making organization, Urdaibai Bird Center allocates its resources to the protection and conservation of the birds and the habitats in which they live.
