The school year is coming to an end and for many schools it's time to get out of the classroom and have a special day together. Coming to Urdaibai Bird Center is a great way for classes to have a completely different learning experience, spend a day in nature and enjoy the birds of Urdaibai.
Everyday, our guides Jon, Oier, Arrate and Rowan are busy welcoming students from all over Euskadi. We believe that a visit to the Bird Center should give children and students new skills, a passion for nature and happy memories so we have lots of dynamic activities for them to participate in. Despite the rain, we have managed to do many activities in the open air.
Learning to identify birds and then putting their new skills into practice in the observatory is a very rewarding experience for learners.
Through their connection with the birds students really value the wetland habitat.
They also experience the difficulties of migration through the game Arranoka and contact with real objects such as GPS devices and coded rings which are used for tracking birds on their journeys.
Our fun reflection activity is a great way for students to analyse their own personal growth during the visit, be creative and give us suggestions on how to improve the experience. They really have some excellent ideas and they help us to evolve.
