Thursday, 31 May 2012 07:41

A Great Spotted Cuckoo (Clamator glandarius), a species of cuckoo typical of the mediterranean area, was watched yesterday in Urdaibai. It was an adult perched in the area of the high countryside of the town of Busturia. It is probably a migrant because the sights of this interesting species in Urdaibai are extermely rares.

The most important breeding areas of european Great Spotted Cuckoo in the Paleartic are the continental and mediterranean areas of Iberian peninsula and most of the west of Turkey
