Oier Erkizia - A passionate ornothologist and filmmaker

During the spring lockdown we got to know Oier Erkizia a young ornithologist from Doneztebe. His age has not hindered his passion for birds and he has become a keen documentary maker.

Unable to leave his house due to the health crisis, Oier began to film the birds he could see from his balcony, He had a great view of oak trees and the Ezkurra River. The fantastic setting and Oier´s patience resulted in some wonderful images.

He managed to make photos and video recordings of no less than 25 different species of birds..

But it didn´t stop there. Once lockdown was over, Oier, camera in hand, began to go further afield in search of other birds that he could not record from his home. Among these he managed to capture images of the black woodpecker, the dipper and the kingfisher.
