Collaboration between the recovery center Mártioda and Urdaibai Bird Center.

Technical from the Recovery Center called Mártioda in collaboration with the technical staff from Urdaibai Bird Center have been release a Spoonbill. It was collected and recovered with the help of Mártioda.

Some days ago, the Spoonbill was collected very weak near the wetland called Salburua and after some days of recovery, it was decided to release in the lagoon of Orueta, in Urdaibai. The reason for this decision was due to this wetland is an important place to stop and rest for European Spoonbills and now a group of spoonbills took several days feeding and resting on the wetland of Orueta.

When we released the Spoonbill we had to check from the Urdaibai Bird Center how it adapted to the lagoon and hopefully it joined the group of Spoonbills in the lagoon and had begun to feed normally.

This center is one of the oldest and prestigious recovery centers in the Peninsula. Most of the animals that come into its facilities are birds that for some reason need care.
