Lecture: Recovery project of Osprey in Urdaibai

The Osprey is one of the most wonderful bird we can see in Urdaibai. Its status of flag species becomes it in an excellent tool to encourage the conservation, environmental education and ecotourism. The Aranzadi Society of Science, collaborating with the Department of Environment and Agriculture of the Regional Government of Bizkaia has started a project to create a reproductive nucleus of this bird of prey in Urdaibai. The recovery project will be carried out by a multidisciplinary team made up of technicians of the Regional Government of Bizkaia, Urdaibai Bird Center and external personnel with broad experience in this type of process.

This coming lecture, given by the Doctor Aitor Galarza, will be about the European population of Ospreys, with special mention to the reintroduction project carried out by other countries and to the recovery project of the species that starts this year in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.
