¡¡¡An Eurasian Eagle-Owl in Gautegiz Arteaga!!!

Tuesday, 30 October 2012 12:09

These last days we have been said by some neighbours that a big raptor was seen at the surroundings of Gautegiz Arteaga. It was described as an "enormous owl" that was nearby their houses and it was also seen catching a big size rat.

Regarding to the description people gave us, we were confused at the beginning but we finally could identify the bird as an Eurasian Eagle-Owl (Bubo bubo), possibly strayed to a falconer.

During this week we have been able to confirm the identification of the species as an Eurasian Eagle-Owl and we could sight and took some pictures of this impressive bird among a mass of crows and magpies that flew up and we realized that it was wearing flying jesses.
