Some New England (EEUU) farmers first began to built artificial nests for ospreys in order to encourage their breeding as they wanted to avoid the disturbance caused by other raptors to the chickens. Furthermore, this artificial platforms may encourage the colonization of new breeding areas for Ospreys. Since the installation of the artificial nests in 2009 in Urdaibai, it has been seen that migratory Ospreys are keen on using this kind of platforms for resting, feeding and even for overnighting.
