New Colors, New Timetable!

We have a new timetable for the autumn months! We invite you to come and enjoy this beautiful time of year in Urdaibai. The new season brings many delights to the reserve. Early morning mists rest on the surrounding mountains and the trees that cover their slopes are glorious in their autumn colours. Its the perfect time to visit the center and then take a walk to the outdoor observatories on the banks of the lagoon

There are some fantastic visitors in the marsh at this time of year. Swimming among the reeds are ducks such as the pochards.They are stunning in the golden light of autumn. These diving or dabbling ducks prefer deep water where they feed on aquatic plants, molluscs, small fish or invertebrates.

Great white egrets are on their way south so Urdaibai is a perfect place for them to rest and replenish. This beautiful bird has brilliant white plumage and a striking yellow bill. Seeing one definitely brightens a grey day!
