On this weekend, December 14-15th, Urdaibai Bird Center organized the Sessions for the presentation of the Monna project for Monitoring the Nature and Birds that is sponsored by the Program of Territorial Cooperation 2007-2013 (POCTEFA) of the European Union.

For this reason, the visits where designed for letting the people know what has represented the Monna project until know and which are the results that will be carried out when it finishes. There were guided visits with a technician that explained what means to work in projects of technological development related to the Nature and how the Urdaibai Bird Center is taking part on this. On the other hand, the people doing the self-guided visits could also know it through audiovisuals and explanatory posters.

Besides, all of them could also watch the devices that are used and as the participants had a great interest on the matter, they asked for several questions about their arrangement and use and also, how the information obtained through this kind of monitoring of birds is used.

The final objective of the visits was to make public the Monna project, a R+D+i project that wants to launch Europe to the worldwide leadership on technological material for monitoring the nature as a way to assume more effective public politics about environmental and biodiversity management.

It combines the technological development for the bird migration analysis through emerging technologies of European basis on the geopositioning range with the creation of a living-lab that launches an emerging economical sector, Nature Monitoring. For this reason, two devices had been developed for knowing the movements of the birds, as well as a multimedia and multidevice plataform for managing and showing the georeferenced data directed to different kinds of public,  researchers, amateur ornithologist and general public that can enjoy this as a touristic resource. If you need more information, you have the Monna project available through our website and the web of the project.
