Roy is back! With him he brings the hope of breeding osprey in Urdaibai

The Osprey N3 'Roy' has returned to Urdaibai for the seventh consecutive year after spending the winter in sub-Saharan Africa. This individual is part of the species recovery programme which was carried at the Bird Center in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.

Roy noticia

Last spring N3 was joined by a young female from another recovery project which was carried out at the Orx Marshes, in Les Landes. If "Landa", the female osprey, returns this year, they will be an ideal breeding pair. They could be the first ospreys to breed in this protected area of the Urdaibai marshes for hundreds of years.

The truth is that "Roy", N3, is a natural superhero. He has survived ed the wintering period in Africa and overcome all kinds of dangers and problems during his journey back to Urdaibai. We welcome him!
