A new experience - the sound of the seasons in Urdaibai

There is a fine layer of snow covering the reeds. It's freezing cold in the marsh. The trees are bare and brown. The whistling of wigeons can be heard from the marsh and then the curlew reveals its presence with its melancholic call. You might be visiting Urdaibai Bird Center in spring or summer but you can now experience the sounds of winter in our new audiosphere. Migration not only brings different birds to watch depending on the season, but it also brings a different soundscape. There is incredible diversity in the calls and songs throughout the year. Imagine the bright chorus of spring as thousands of birds sing to announce their territories and attract a mate. It's very different from autumn, which is better characterized by the sounds of flocks of geese or cranes passing overhead on their migratory journeys. This new addition to the exhibition at the Urdaibai Bird Center provides another sensory experience of the marsh that also enhances access for people. We invite you to enjoy the Urdaibai wetlands in a new way - close your eyes and listen, listen to the sounds of the birds as the seasons change. |
