Thanks for celebrating with us!

Our youngest visitors were especially keen to use the scopes! And what was in the marsh to spot? The teal ducks were a welcome sight after their absence in the north. We were also visited by a flock of spoonbills. At dusk, 200 egrets took up their roost in the trees in Ozollo and Muxar, the osprey which winters in Urdaibai, came to rest in his favourite spot. As night fell we trained our live camera on the wonders of the wetlands. The theme for this year´s event is light pollution so a virtual tour of the marshes at dark was a perfect way to celebrate. We enjoyed watching Muxar fall asleep and seeing the snipes eat frenetically on the islands below. But perhaps the star of the night was a common sandpiper who was hunting continually in the vegetation. There was such an abundance of insects that it had an enormous meal! It was a wonderful night and the day was just as good. We thank everyone who came. See you next time! |
