This summer we are organizing guided field trips, led by members of the Bird Center staff, to observe the Ospreys which are breeding in Urdaibai. This is a historic moment as the species has not reproduced here for many years.

The adult ospreys, who are known as Roy and Landa, are raising two beautiful chicks which were born in a nest in the reserve.

We can enjoy the presence of these notable birds in Urdaibai thanks to the osprey recovery project which was carried out by the Urdaibai Bird Center in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Basque Government.

Visits to observe the ospreys will last approximately 3 hours and will be made up of two parts. First, at the Urdaibai Bird Center, there will be a brief presentation on the history of this interesting pair of Ospreys. After this, the field trip will take place and there will be a visit to the location where the recovery project was carried out
The tour will also address aspects related to the landscape and the different habitats in the Biosphere Reserve . Visitors will be able to observe birds that share the habitat with the ospreys.

Finally, all participants will be given an invitation to the Urdaibai Bird Center museum and observatory.
