A wonderfully enriching visit

Last week we had a wonderful visit from the Arrotegi Rest home. The group, made up of 12 people over the age of eighty, came to the Urdaibai Bird Center to learn about the migration of birds and, of course, observe them.

The morning began with a ringing session. As the birds were ringed the group participated enthusiastically, telling stories from their youths. They had a wealth of knowledge about birds and language related to them. They were delighted to see the thrush, robin, blue tits and reed warbler that were tagged in the session. 

Then, whilst we were on the observation platform, we were lucky enough to be visited by an osprey and many other birds such as cormorants, teal and spoonbills.

It was a very enriching morning for all involved. We learnt so much from our bright and knowledgeable visitors. We hope they visit us again soon!
