Onin and the Journey to Africa – a book which is very close to our hearts

Have you ever heard of a collection of books about a character called Onin? These wonderful stories are aimed at young book lovers and there is now a new addition to the series, Onin and the journey to Africa.

We are very proud to announce that an Urdaibai Bird Center Osprey plays a big part in Onin´s new adventure!

In 2019 Ibon Martin, the author of the Onin collection, came to the Urdaibai Bird Center. During his visit he was fascinated by the story of Cousteau, an osprey from the Osprey Recovery Project.

Little did we realize that Ibon finished his visit with a new source of inspiration in his mind. He was going to write a story about Cousteau.

When a parcel arrived at the Bird Center a short while ago we got a fantastic surprise! We couldn´t believe it. This incredible book tells the story of how Onin helps Cousteau on his migratory journey to Africa and it´s full of adventures. It's a must read for all book worms and nature lovers!
