The ornithological yearbook of the marshes of Gautegiz Arteaga 2010-2011 is published by Urdaibai Bird Center

 

Urdaibai Bird Center published The ornithological yearbook of the marshes of Gautegiz Arteaga 2010-2011 in Spanish. There, the observations were compiled from finalisation of the environmental improvements carried out by the Basque Government between the 2008 and 2009. This yearbook not only explains the creation process of the marhes of Gautegiz Arteaga and the results of this 3 years after the environmental improvement but also the sightings and phenology of the different bird-species detected between October 2009 and Decembre 2011. 

      

 

For preparing this ornithological yearbook, the number of census carried out in Gautegiz Arteaga marshes were 640, from 24 October 2009 until 31 december 2011, an average number of 24 censuses per month. Those censuses were made exclusively by the technicians of Urdaibai Bird Center.  This exhaustive monitoring gives a more detailed knowledge of the bird phenology and the development of the marsh. Therefore, this yearbook has a duration longer than a year and then, the evolution of the birds

 

 Este seguimiento exhaustivo, posibilita un conocimiento más pormenorizado de la fenología de las aves y su relación directa con la evolución del humedal. Por ello, el seguimiento efectuado para la realización de este anuario no se circunscribe solamente a un período anual tal y como se recoge en otros anuarios ornitológicos al uso. Así lo hemos querido reflejar de forma voluntaria con el fin de recoger durante dos años largos la evolución de la avifauna a partir de la restauración de la lámina de agua en el humedal de Orueta el 24 de octubre de 2009.

 

      

 

El anuario recoge los datos referentes al status de la especie en Urdaibai y en los humedales de Gautegiz Arteaga, así como datos y tablas referentes a la fenología de determinadas especies que, bien por su interés en la conservación, su singularidad o por su caracter migratorio en Urdaibai sean de interés científico.
