At this time of year tides are low and this, along with the sunny weather, have reduced the depth of the water in the lagoon. This has made it a very attractive place for many species of birds.

Many groups of waders, already returning from their breeding grounds in the north, are able to find food in abundance along the muddy banks of the lagoon. Among them are redshanks, greenshanks, common sandpipers and green sandpipers.

The shallow water is perfect for birds of the heron family too as it makes it easier for them to catch fish and other small animals. It is beautiful to see the cattle egrets, egrets and herons among the reeds.

The spoonbills are another stunning addition to the wildlfe which can be seen in the marsh in spring and summer. They rest and feed in the shallow water and it is easy to observe the coloured rings they wear on their legs. These coded bands allow us to know that they were ringed in Holland.

All these waders are accompanied by ducks and coots feeding on the abundant vegetation the lagoon offers.

If all this were not enough, we are also lucky enough to have visits from Roy the osprey, who is fond of fishing in the lagoon. It really is an incredible sight to see him.

Don´t miss the chance to see the incredible view of the marsh and its beautiful inhabitants!
