The Stilts´ New Nest

Since April there have been several stilts in the Orueta Lagoon. One of the couples is known to have built a nest. However, it was destroyed by heavy rain.

Having learnt from this unfortunate experience, the couple then made a nest in a different place. Their choice of location was on a small island where spoonbills frequently stop to rest, This nest was established on May 29th so, if all goes well, we should see stilt chicks around June 20th. The incubation period is 22-25 days.
