-URDAIBAI RESERVE- The British Council is an English language teaching centre which promotes learning through innovative techniques and motivating projects. In this organization more than 1000 elementary and secondary students learn English in a dynamic, fun way. Every year the British Council organizes a year-long themed project and the coordinator, Rowan Hardman, is good friend of the Urdaibai Bird Center. The theme of this year´s project was Migration and the osprey was the core element. Using Engish as the vehicle language, students from 5 upwards have participated in a wide range of activities. They have followed the British osprey, 30, on her migratory journey from Rutland Water in the UK to Senegal and they have kept osprey webcam diaries. In addition to this, they have done handicrafts, drama and writing competitions, Through their experience of the osprey and its migratory journey they have learnt about other cultures, geography, ecology and more - and all of this in English. At the end of term 2 students participated in a fantasic osprey themed party with a parade. Parents were included too and there was a raffle in which the winners were given free tickets to the Urdaibai Bird Center.
