Great bitterns are among us in Urdaibai!

This week we have observed the first great bitterns of the season in the marshes of Orueta (Urdaibai).

The Great Bittern is a rare species in the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai. Every year some individuals are wintering but they are still very dificult to observe.

If you are lucky its relatively “easy” to observe them in one of the observatories  that we have. It is close to the center and from there the views are excellents to the reeds.
