On 10 May World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated and the Urdaibai Bird Center will organize activities to the public throughout the week

We will celebrate the World Migratory Bird Day in Urdaibai Bird Center with lots of differents activities.

To start with, next 7th of May at 19:00 we have organised a conference which will explain how does the new platform of Aranzadi Society of Science function. This platform brings the oportunity to note and share sightings of animals in the Basque Country.

Furthermore, on Saturday May 9 will start the course of birdwatching. We will work in acquiring notions of ecology, biology and phenology of birds as well as the necessary guidelines for the identification, recognition and identification of birds that can be observed in various terrestrial environments (forest, countryside and thickets montane) of Urdaibai during spring and summer.

For the end of this week, Sunday May 10 the Urdaibai Bird Center will offer an open day with free tours for anyone who wants to approach to the centre. An exhibition about the scientific ringing will also be offered.

During this day visitors can enjoy from the center and from the observatories the views and birds that are in the marshes of Gautegiz Arteaga.

The theme chosen this year to commemorate this day is; "Energy make it bird-friendly", in this sense, the World Migratory Bird Day highlights the links between migration of birds and the sound management of energy resources.

Doors open at 11:00h and anyone who wants to know more about the center will have the opportunity to do so until 19: 00h. Also, in one of the observatories managed by the Society of Sciences Aranzadi -in Orueta- there will be volunteers to show and advise in identifying wetland birds.
