During those days we can see in the marshes of Gautegiz Arteaga the earliest waders regarding to data.

Common Sandpiper

Coming from their breeding areas in Central and Northern Europe, the first Common and Green Sandpiper, Common Greenshank and Redshank and even the rare Wood Sandpiper can be already seen while they are resting on the waterlines with reeds.

Common Redshank

Most of them will leave our areas towards the south, but probably, some of the Common Greenshanks will stay here to spend the autumn and winter among us, as they did years before. Among them, there is an old-known bird, ringed by our ringers 3 years ago and that it is among the new arrivals.
