Energy and enthusiasm! Thanks to all the schools that visited us in 2024.

Urdaibai Bird Center has been a very busy place this year. We were visited by school groups from all over Bizkaia and further afield, bringing almost 2000 young people in contact with the birds and nature in Urdaibai.

In order to make the experience as dynamic and attractive as possible, our visit is constantly evolving. This year we  designed some fun, new activities to improve learner understanding of the use of space in Urdaibai and the ever increasing pressure  which nature is under.

As usual, students really enjoyed using the telescopes and observing the birds. In spring the star was clearly the cygnet, born to the pair of swans, whilst in the autumn, the large flocks of cormorants were especially popular. Everyone loves seeing how they dry their wings after diving.

Nature is full of surprises and when the schools visit we always hear shouts of joy and amazement. At UBC there are a thousand ways to enjoy a special day.

As the year draws to a close we are reminded of the energy and enthusiasm of our young visitors and we are looking forward to the new season!
